Northeast Paging/UCOM employees raise money throughout the year by having fundraisers such as our jeans day program and our annual silent auction. In 2007, we made cash donations to the following organizations: Animal
Refuge League Each year, Northeast Paging/UCOM selects 2 families to support with our donations for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays through the Salvation Army . This year we gave a gift certificate for a full Thanksgiving meal for a family of 6 in need. For Christmas, we "adopted" another family comprised of a single mom going to school full time and raising a 5-year-old daughter. With our fundraising this past year, we were able to purchase miscellaneous kitchen items for Mom and a radio and some small toys from the daughter's wish list. We also gave them a Blockbuster movie rental card and a Hannaford gift card for their holiday meal. Here is a photo of 2 members of our Social Committee
getting the gifts ready to be delivered to our family. Each holiday season, Northeast Paging/UCOM participates in the Thanksgiving and Christmas "Adopt-A-Family" program offered by the Salvation Army. The Thanksgiving program provides a full Thanksgiving meal to a family in need. When signing up for the Christmas program a family is given to you with a list of all family members, their ages, two items on their wish list and their clothing sizes. We have different company fundraisers during the year to fund this program. Most of the money raised is from our annual silent auction. All items for the auction are donated by our employees. In the past, these items have included gift cards to retail stores and restaurants, handmade jewelry and greeting cards, homemade baked goods, and paid time off. This year we raised $1176.00. Another popular fundraiser is "Jean's Day".
At least once a month we have a day where the employees are allowed to
wear jeans by donating $1. Since 1997, Northeast Paging/UCOM has donated pagers to the Northeast Marine Animal Lifeline. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and sick marine animals. The lifeline is set up with a pager number that people can call to report a stranded marine animal. If you would like more information on this organization please visit their website at www.stranding.org or call them at (207) 773-7377. Saco Food Pantry Inc.
